Why Zion?
In Scripture, Zion is the hill of Jerusalem and a symbol of the dwelling place of God among His people. The name speaks to us of refuge, illumination, community, and spiritual ascent. It was this beautiful promise that inspired our name and continues to shape our purpose.
Zion Christian Library was born out of a desire to serve as a modern-day Zion: a welcoming refuge where people can find quiet shelter and a starting point for spiritual growth through learning, faith, and fellowship.
We recognised the need for an accessible hub of faith-based resources in Saskatoon. Today, our purpose is to serve individuals, families, seminary students, and churches with trusted materials that enrich spiritual understanding and everyday life.
A vision becoming a shared mission.
What began as a deeply held dream became a labour of love, fuelled by a passion for ministry and community enrichment. We set out to create a place where people at every stage of their spiritual journey could find resources to uplift their spirits, explore their faith, and find encouragement.
We believe a thriving faith is nurtured together. Reading and reflection can open the door to deeper understanding, but their value grows when they shape how we live, serve, and relate to one another. That belief informs the resources we share and the community we hope to cultivate.
Rooted in community.
On April 7, 2026, Zion Christian Library was officially incorporated as a Saskatchewan non-profit organization. This milestone marked an important step in establishing our work as a lasting initiative dedicated to serving the community.
We see this commitment as more than a formal milestone. It reflects our intention to approach this work with care, responsibility, and a long-term dedication to the people we serve.
A sacred purpose, a professional standard.
Our heart for ministry is matched by a commitment to professional integrity. Zion Christian Library became a licensed member of the International Association of Professional Librarians (IAPO), an important part of our commitment to professional library practice.
We want our care for Christian literature to be reflected in how resources are organised, preserved, managed, and made accessible. Purpose and professionalism belong together.
The values behind every page.
Four guiding principles shape how we care for our collection and welcome our Patrons.
Reverence
We handle what we hold with care. The Word deserves our best craft, not our leftovers.
Welcome
The door is wide. Scholar or seeker, everyone is met with the same hospitality.
Stewardship
We keep so that others may use. Preservation and free access are acts of service.
Clarity
Light is our governing image. We make things findable, readable, and plain.
THE WORD THAT GUIDES US“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”
PSALM 119:105
Our story is still unfolding.
We continue to stand for a place of gathering, growth, and grace. We are grateful to everyone who becomes part of this journey, and we look forward to continuing to serve our community through trusted Christian literature, learning, and fellowship.
